The full cost picture
The exam fee is only part of the total. A realistic budget for entering the industry includes:
- The RES course — fees vary by approved course provider; this is usually the largest single cost.
- Study materials and practice questions — optional but common.
- Exam fee — S$512.30 (full) or S$283.40 (modular).
- Potential retakes — if you fail one paper, a modular retake is S$283.40.
- Deferment or appeal fees — only if applicable.
Because the certificate is valid for two years with no extension, finishing within that window matters — otherwise you may be looking at repeating the course as well as the exam.
